Sometimes open source ideals make for the strangest–and most wonderful–bedfellows. We met Dr. Vandana Shiva–physicist, scientist, environmentalist, and activist–several years ago. Her work saving seeds and protecting traditional knowledge in the farming industry parallels the openness, transparency, collaboration and freedom of open source ideology. Her simple, clear explanation of why knowledge should be shared–and the devastating results should it be hoarded–is part of the essential truth that makes the work we do so incredibly important. But don’t take our word for it.

Very few are aware of her work outside India. To tell the truth even in India hardly anyone seems to care, after all since when the “haves” cared about the “have-nots”? Thanks for the post.

Absolutely Fantastic. We need such great people to explain and promote open source and free software to a wider audience. Dr. Vandana Shiva did a great job of explaining the concept of open source software in simple words. Keep up the great job.
All the best.

Amazing…this great little video manages to pack more than just the Open Source message and deserves to be seen by a much wider audience. Kudos to all involved.
